Anna’s injuries stop her tennis career
A retired Russian professional tennis player, Anna Kournikova has won numerous titles as a doubles player. She was once the world’s No. 1 doubles player. At the age of 14, Anna Kournikova became the first player in history ever to win the Fed Cup.
Kournikova never won a singles title. Anna won Grand Slam titles twice in Australia in 1999 and 2002 with Martina Hingis as her partner. For the past several years Anna’s professional tennis career has been curtailed due to severe back problems.
Her singles record is 209-129. Since 2003, she has not played on the WTA tour but appears in the exhibition matches for the noble causes. Four times, Kournikova was named one of People’s 50 Most Beautiful People.
