Nicole’s drunk driving trial has been delayed
On December 11, 2006, the actress Nicole Richie was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol on a busy Los Angeles freeway. Recently, two week postponement of the trial case has been declared by the Los Angeles Superior Court.
At the request of a defense attorney, the trial is now set for July 11, 2007 by the Superior Court Commissioner Steven Lubell. Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for prosecutors stated that the trial could start on that date or within the following 10 days.
The daughter of pop singer Lionel Richie, Nicole could be jailed for up to a year if she is found guilty because of a prior DUI conviction in June 2003. On the CBS “Late Show”, Nicole Richie revealed that she scared of going to jail but is ready to take responsibility for what she has done.
