Lily Allen was born in Hammersmith, London, to the comedian / actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. She has an older sister, a younger brother and sister
and several half-siblings. Her parents separated and Lily lived with
the comedian Harry Enfield for some time, whilst her mother dated him.
She is the goddaughter of the late singer / guitarist of The Clash, Joe
Strummer. She claims to have attended 13 different schools between the ages of 5
and 15. As an alternative to lasting friendships, Lily Allen immersed
herself in music. At the age of 15 Lily Allen, a rebellious teenager, left
school for good.
This circumstance inevitably prompted the girl to find way in her
attempt to entertain herself, and music delightfully appeared to be the
primary answer as she then constantly spent time to listen to
everything from T. Rex, The Specials, and The Slits to Happy Mondays
and jungle music, commonly known as drum and bass.
In the fall of 2005, Lily Allen (allegedly against the wishes of her
record label) began posting demos of her music to her personal site on
the social networking giant MySpace. Acclaim for her music began to
spread across the network and eventually caused early release of her
recordings. Her first single "LDN" appeared as a limited edition 7"
vinyl record in April, 2006.
